Living in the northeast, I often hear barred owls in the early morning- "Whooooooo who Whooooooo!"
Barred owls are amazing- they possess specialized feathers that allow them to fly silently. These owls have a beautiful checkered pattern, as well as a a distinctive face- it kind of reminds me of an apple slice. If you look carefully, someone in the farmhouse is up, listening to calls.

My "Wolf and Cardinal" painting is a special moment in time between two animals in nature. I wanted to paint the wolf and cardinal as equally beautiful, but quite different. It captures the essence of each creature, conveying their unique characteristics, emotions, and the magic of the natural world they inhabit. "Maple and the Peacock" is a true story! Maple is a gorgeous draft horse I have worked with at Green Chimneys, a school that offers horse therapy. They also have roaming peacocks that "rule the roost". When I saw Maple staring at the peacock on the fence I knew it would make a perfect painting.

A number of years ago I imagined puppies being born out of corn stalks. A new take of the term corndog! Yes, I know, weird! But I couldn't get the image out of my head, so I purchased a large dog sculpture and painted it with the image I imagined. This is a short video demonstrating the process.
